How much sunshine do we really need?

In 1923, Coco Chanel came back from a Mediterranean trip with a tan. This made tanning popular. A tan was seen as a sign of wealth and changed how people thought about sunshine. From the 1900s to the 1950s, sunlight was used to help sick people. A "healthy tan" was encouraged. Now, our view of the sun is more complex. In the last 50 years, more skin cancer cases have made doctors think again. They now tell people to avoid too much sun and use sunscreen. This is still true today. But, recently, some sun can be good for us. It helps our mood, vitamin D, and immune system. It can also lower the risk of some cancers, improve heart health, and make us smarter and sleep better. So, how can we get the good parts of the sun and avoid the bad? How much sun do we need?
