Hundreds arrested over French wildfires, but who is to blame?

Wildfires have caused a lot of damage in France this year. This is the most damage since World War Two. People are asking why this is happening. One reason is that the climate is changing because of burning fossil fuels. The weather is getting warmer. But nine out of ten wildfires in France are started by people. The government in Paris is trying to find someone to blame. They say they were not ready for the fires. This summer, the fires have burned over 300,000 acres. The government has arrested 420 people. They think these people started the fires on purpose or by accident. One man is accused of starting 10 fires in five days. He could get 15 years in prison and a fine of €150,000. Another man got three years for starting three fires in a forest. A newspaper said only a little bit of the forest burned. Some people think the government is being too hard on some people, like a man who threw a cigarette butt.
